“Hi Greg, this is your father speaking”, the opening line on my voicemail when I miss a call from my pops. As if by the ‘Hi Greg’ portion I didn’t already know exactly who was calling. I chuckle every time I hear it.

So, Hi there, this is Greg speaking, as if you didn’t already guess that by the website name.

Welcome to my blog. This is a place where I can put down my thoughts on things.

I considered a bit what type of structure this blog would have, and settled on ‘I don’t really know yet’ and ‘it doesn’t really matter’. I just wanted to start and hopefully not fizzle out after a post or three.  But I want to be honest and shift my thoughts from swooshing inside my head out my finger tips into a new world, like Neo taking the red pill and seeing where the rabbit hole leads.

I have been journaling on and off for many years and always found it therapeutic to shed thoughts like my two dogs shed their coats leading up to summer. I’ll be posting some poetry, my thoughts on philosophy and psychology, love, death and the life that precedes it. So basically reaching into my head and picking something out like bingo numbers and running with it.

I also want grow as a writer, so I’ll challenge myself with short writing projects, honing in on a random subject for closer inspection.

Scratches head thinking of what else to say...

As this blog is essentially about me, I guess I could just say, ‘Hi, I’m Greg… if you want to know more about me then just read the blog.” But then this About page would look rather sparse. So allow me to expand…

I’m a husband and father.

I’m a professional photographer and lecturer, and now want to explore writing some more.

I consider myself interesting to those who get to know me and have a decent sense of humor.

I enjoy movies and series, and now recently have been ploughing through books, one a week.

I have had an eventful life which has forced me to think through things and this will be the place I share some of those thoughts.

I’m not the man I was ten years ago, or even last year, and that’s ok. I’m growing, learning and evolving and I reserve the right to change my mind at any time.

It’s great to digitally meet you, and I hope you glean something of value from my humble blog.

Greg
